Yulie hails from Chelyabinsk, the gateway from the Urals to Siberia and a city famed for its heavy industry and massive meteor strike.  Which makes it fitting that personal industry and impact are her hallmarks when it comes to the visual arts.

A successful commercial designer (“I have bills to pay”) she works from the basis that a picture is nothing without a sense of story behind it and that it is the story that evokes the emotion in the viewer.

Anyone who has met her will attest to her natural energy and enthusiasm which she brings to her work in areas as diverse as skateboards and stickers, climbing walls and visual brand identity. Vibrant colour, strong contrasts, and evocative images fuelled by stories are her signature strokes.

Primarily working on digital for the freedom it brings, Yulie revels in broader canvases; “walls can be re-painted almost indefinitely and creating something bigger than myself still gives me a childlike excitement”. She loves working with wood, watercolours, and ink; all of which enable her to play with the textures beneath the colour and adding another dimension, much like the stories at play behind her images.

“I think that the Artist is an Explorer, whose art helps other to see what they saw first, and while, yes, 'a picture is worth a thousand words', I believe that those thousand words are different for each and every person who stands in front of the picture.”
